The Hobbit

Anyone know when the Hobbit movie is due out, how many there are going to be and whose starring in it??

Dont know a great deal at the moment.
I believe Ian Mckellan will be Gandalf which I am pleased about.
Guillermo Del Toro to direct which could be interesting ~ was impressed with Pans Labyrinth.
John Howe and Alan Lee have both been involoved in pre production sketching.
Casting in general I think is still going on and I think Viggo Mortenson has shown an interest in Strider.
Its supposed to be 2 films ~ one mainly about the Hobbit and the other about the action between that and the Lord of the Rings commencing.
2012 has been mentioned on IMDB but thats about it.

I can't wait, Pans Labrynth was a nicely done film with good effects - especially liked the bit with the table full of food and eyeless monster.
It would be good to have the consistency with the same faces for the main characters eg Strider and Gandalf. I wonder if they cast a different Bilbo???

Not that I want to say anything spoilerish but.........
Heard on the grapevine that the Spiders were not going to be in it!!!
That would be such a pity ~ was looking forward to Bilbo kiting them by insulting them with "Attercop" and "Tomnoddy".
Still early days yet, could still be in........

Doesn't mention anything about spiders though

It does say that Guillermo Del Toro is spending a lot of time in the WETA studios designing the creatures of Middle Earth, so hopefully that will include spiders, as we know they can be done well in movie form, SHELOB was pretty impressive.

Mmmmmmh ~ I went back to where I had picked that bit of information up and then went to the source that they had used.
Guess what ~ it does'nt say that! It actually said said that other people would maybe have looked to remove that if it was being produced as one film.
So the spiders should be there!
If you get chance read The Quest of Erebor from Unfinished Tales, its only short but it gives information about it from Gndalfs viewpoint and the Dwarves too!
Not going to quote it here but some of the things made me howl with laughter!
